BACKYARD COMPOSTING WORKSHOP

Don’t throw your kitchen scraps or yard waste into the trash.  Don’t buy expensive fertilizer or use unnecessary chemicals on your gardens!  Learn to turn your organic waste into a valuable, nutrient-filled soil additive called compost. 

Westmoreland Cleanways is conducting a Backyard Composting Workshop on Saturday, March 2, 2013, from 10 a.m. to Noon, at the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve on the campus of St. VincentCollege near Latrobe.

The workshop, conducted by a Penn State Master Gardener, will cover the economic and environmental benefits of composting, what materials are used for composting, how to maintain the compost pile, and how to use finished compost.  The cost of the workshop is $10, payable at the door. 

If you can’t make the March 2 workshop, Westmoreland Cleanways is offering another Backyard Composting Workshop:
