A little about David Hopperfield...
Hometown: Grew up in Ambridge, PA. I now live in Robinson.
Favorite Song: Friends In Low Places by Garth. I’ve got a lot of favorite songs that we play everyday on Froggy. To narrow it down to just one would be impossible.
Favorite Hobby/Interests/Activities: My son and I can be found running 5k races around Froggyland on weekends. I’m the guy with the yellow Froggy shirt. I also like to tinker around the house. Of course I’m a big fan of the Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers, Pitt, and the Detroit Pistons.
Favorite TV Show: Can’t miss “The Office” . Those people are just nuts.
Favorite Movie: Bull Durham. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes it rains. Think about that.
Favorite Food: I always enjoy a great steaks or ribs. Can’t live without Police Station Pizza in Ambridge.
Most Memorable Radio Moment: In Pittsburgh, I was able to save the day when we sponsored a concert at Point State Park. For our free Ronnie Milsap show the drums didn’t arrive with the rest of the equipment. I loaned Ronnie’s drummer my set for the concert. Even though I haven’t played out in years, I still have those drums. My wife tells me that I should get rid of them. I tell her that if this radio thing doesn’t work out perhaps I can play somewhere or give lessons.
Most Memorable Celebrity Encounter: Meeting Johnny Cash and June Carter was memorable. The thing that I remember most was before going out on stage, the road manager instructing me not to touch the position of the microphone. Only problem with that was the microphone stand was up by my forehead(Johnny was quite a bit taller than me). Johnny Cash saw that and said “son, you adjust it anyway you need to and if you forget to put it back, I‘ll take care of it”. Glad he did so I didn’t have to stand on tip toes.
David Hopperfield loves Froggyland because...
I grew up here and it‘s always been home. We love our Steelers…Penguins…Pirates..college teams in all parts of Froggyland.
